How *should* society run? What is a state? Do countries exist? Is the social contract valid?

Here is Jean Jacques Rousseau's explanation of the Social Contract:

(If it Rains, the alternate location is "Irish Pub" located on Walnut @ 21st)

    Any ideas?

There's Moshi Moshi, a small, quiet sushi place nearby.

There's La Colombe, which varies in crowdedness but it's got great coffee.

There's a place called "Irish Pub" by Walnut and 21st.

For a number of reasons I've rescheduled for a tentative date of Thursday, August 5th at 7:30 pm. Please let me know if this is a good day for you or if you prefer a different time/day. I'm pretty flexible.

Bastille Day? Why watch a "revolution" be re-enacted when you can be part of a real one? :)

I wonder how we could attract more people to philosophy.
    •  The meetup was fun. But it seems to me we must have some people dressed in blue costumes and funny hats & weilding silly string to enforce our social contract. No one notices the "aerosol" in the room, so we should be able to dodge any logical disagreements about how we should run our beloved General Vicinity.
